Parquet floors with character
A wooden floor brings warmth and calm to a room. At Houtwerk we lay oak parquet floors as wide planks, herringbone or chevron. Because we also make cabinets, stairs and kitchens, we make sure floor and furniture meet perfectly, with no visible joins or awkward transitions.

Patterns and applications
Wide-plank floors
Wide oak planks for a calm, spacious feel. Ideal in large living areas and open-plan kitchens.
Herringbone parquet
A classic pattern that looks just as good in a period townhouse as in a sleek, modern interior.
Chevron parquet
Boards that meet at a point. It gives a room direction and a refined look.
Mosaic parquet
Small strips laid in a fixed pattern, for those looking for an understated yet lively floor.
Transitions to stairs and steps
A floor that flows seamlessly into a clad staircase or a step, in the same wood species and finish.
Skirting boards and thresholds
Skirting boards and transition profiles that match the floor and the cabinets, for a properly finished look.

Choosing the right wood and pattern
The choice of pattern and plank width has a big effect on how a room feels. Wide planks make a room calmer and seem to make it larger. Herringbone and chevron add rhythm and give a floor more character. Together with you, we look at what suits the proportions of your room, the way the light falls and the rest of your interior.

Finished down to the details
A beautiful floor stands or falls on its details: where the pattern starts at the entrance, how the floor meets a cabinet, how the transition to the kitchen tiles runs. Because we also make the fitted cabinets and the staircase, we work out those junctions before the floor is laid.

A floor that lasts for years
Parquet lasts for decades if it is properly laid and maintained. After installation we'll advise you on the care that suits your floor's finish, so it stays beautiful.

From our projects
All projectsQuestions we're often asked
Can parquet be combined with underfloor heating?
In many cases, yes, provided the floor build-up and type of parquet are suitable. We check this when we measure up and advise you on the right choice.
What is the difference between herringbone and chevron?
In herringbone, rectangular strips are laid against each other in a zigzag pattern. In chevron, the ends are cut at an angle so the strips meet in a clean point.
Can the stairs be in the same wood as the floor?
Yes. We clad stairs in the same wood species and finish as the floor, so downstairs and upstairs form one whole.
